Name of Product :

Shikakai Enriched Herbal Hair Oil by Hesh Herbal Ancient Formulae. Made in India. 200ml.

Unique Ingredients :

Acacia Concinna (Shikakai Extract) : Shikakai is an Ayurvedic medicinal plant that has been used on the hair since ancient times. Firstly, it has a low pH which means it helps to naturally cleanse your scalp without stripping natural oils and leaves the scalp at its optimum pH level. It also has elements that promote hair growth and prevent hair fall. It has been used to detangle hair as well as leaving the hair moisturized, thus eliminating the need for conditioner and preventing scalp/dandruff problems. Besides these uses, Shikakai is a plant rich in antioxidants and nutrients such as Vitamin A, C, K and D. It nourishes hair roots which helps prevent hair from losing pigment and becoming grey. I also read that washing your hair with Shikakai before you dye it, will also allow your hair to absorb the dye better – I do not dye my hair so I have not tested that out but it is definitely worth looking into!

Other beneficial extracts include : Aloe Vera, Amla, Brahmi, Maka, Neem, Methi, Coconut, Castor, Sandal

My Review :

++5/5 stars – I love everything about this hair oil!

Packaging : Simple, has a nice Indian photo on the front, good instructions and ingredient list, all in English. Plastic bottle heats up well in a microwave and the plastic bottle with the opening on top allows for easier application as you can squeeze the bottle to release product onto your scalp.

Product : Very very very mild scent – only noticeable when applying but cannot smell it IMG_5596.jpgwhile applied. Consistency is the same as syrup – it will run down your scalp when applying to be careful of it getting into your eyes or dripping onto your surroundings.

Absorbs into scalp well. If your scalp is dry, it will literally disappear and you can apply more. I like to apply just enough where I can visibly see the oil on my scalp and hair. Cooling sensation initially then feels normal and sometimes I forget that I even have oil in my hair!

I keep the oil on overnight for maximal benefits and wash out in the morning. Make sure to cover your pillows with towels and anything you may get your head in contact with – for example, your couch!

I use the same towel used to cover my pillow in the morning to dry my hair. I usually double shampoo and go light on the conditioner.

After removal : After washing, my hair and scalp feels very clean and healthy. I do notice quite a lot of hair falling when combing through but somehow my hair looks thicker ! Hair also feels extremely soft, is less frizzy and overall more well behaved. I also find that it styles better and is more tolerable to heat products.

This product can be used on any type of hair, including dyed or damaged hair.
